There comes a time in many people’s lives where they start to think about acquiring some original artwork for their home or cottage. Having an original painting on the wall of your home, especially one that was painted specifically for you and that really speaks to your interests is something special that will be appreciated by your family for decades.

I am very happy to discuss ideas for an original work and once a size and theme is agreed upon, the creative process usually starts with some exploratory sketches by me, to nail down the subject matter and composition. Once the client is happy with the sketch, the full painting will be started. Due to the attention to detail, the fact that I will often source my own reference material by photographing my own animal reference, and also the size of the surface, it can take several months before your painting is complete.

Pricing

Prices vary based on size and complexity so please contact me to discuss your project.

As a general guide, an animal portrait 8×10″ on canvas will start at $330, if photo-reference is provided.

Portraits generally start at around $2300 for a shoulder/head composition 12″x16″ on canvas or linen, with a simple background.

Addition of hands, full body, detailed backgrounds or props, commissions that require a detailed conceptual stage, as well as travel time are all additional costs.
